ACCESSIBILITY
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Our goal
Lobbyden should work for everyone in your squad. We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA on the website, and the same ideas in the Android and iPhone apps (TalkBack and VoiceOver labels, large tap targets, bigger text).
What works today
- Keyboard: every control can be reached with Tab. M mutes and unmutes. With push to talk on, hold Space to talk. Esc closes a panel, and focus goes back to where you were.
- Screen readers: buttons and sliders have names; the mute button says whether you are muted; each person's tile says if they are muted and how good their connection is; status and connection messages are read out when they change.
- Seeing: text and buttons meet the AA contrast ratio (4.5:1 for text); nothing is shown by colour alone (muted and connection also have words for screen readers); you can zoom the page.
- Motion: if your phone or computer asks for reduced motion, the pulsing and ring animations stop.
- Language: English or Hindi, switch on the home screen.
- Sound cues have something to see too: a join or leave sound is matched by the person list changing; reconnecting shows a banner.
Known limits
- Lobbyden is a voice app. Calls are end-to-end encrypted, so we cannot add live captions on our servers. Deaf and hard-of-hearing players can still see who is talking (the ring around their picture).
- We test with automated checks and keyboard runs. We have not yet tested with screen-reader users on real phones; that is next.
- The website on old iPhones (iOS 17.4 and earlier) cannot change volumes on the page; use the phone's volume buttons.
